You can tell a lot about a person by how they choose their clothing. It is a way for an individual to self-express with multiple styles using a variety of choices. There are many you can choose from. BOHEMIAN Are you a free spirit who enjoys more of an unconventional lifestyle? If so, you might enjoy the bohemian style. This style adheres to more natural fabrics, retro patterns, neutrals and warm shades that merge with the 70s style accents. Natural fabrics consist of cotton, linen, hemp, jute and silk. Retro patterns come from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Embellish yourself in a fun, lively way with wild designs that give you an overall sense of flair. Examples of neutral or warm colors in the bohemian style include beige, tan, brown, red, orange and yellow. While this style is natural do not be afraid to experiment with your own accessories and make it your own look.
PREPPY Many private schools and country clubs exhibit the preppy style in everyday and social settings. Some examples of preppy brand names are Polo, Country Club Prep, Lauren James etc. It is a style of attire that boasts classic colors, prints and apparel. Common colors for preppy style might include white, black, navy and nude. Preppy clothing prints consist of stripes, polka dots, plaid and florals. Although preppy clothing may be expensive, and you think this style is for more of the upper class, do not let that stop you from strutting this style. Make it your own!
ARTSY The artsy style is for the creative soul. This is an unconventional style of bright, bold colors with exaggerated prints used in many handcrafted accessories and handmade fabrics. Some bright, bold colors could include pink, teal, orange, lime green and many more. If you love to formulate your own look this style fits you.
GRUNGE The grunge style is for those with more of an edgier side. When considering the grunge fashion consider expanding your wardrobe with oversize cardigan sweaters, long shorts, and denim overalls. This fashion includes baggy, torn clothes. Embrace heavy layering and do not be afraid to let items clash. To complete the look use grunge-approved shoes like combat boots, creepers, canvas sneakers, and platform sandals. If you are into the alternative rock music style this is your style.
PUNK The punk style is favored by rebel and rule breakers alike. Punks wear leather, denim, metal spikes, or studs, chains and military style boots. While your hair might bright and colorful, usually punk clothing is typically dark and black. If you have a rebellious side this look is just what you are looking for.
TRENDY The trendy style is constantly changing with the times, depending on the season’s latest and greatest trends. Those who like the trendy style are usually the ones up to date with what is hot and what is not. Someone that loves to change things up and are bold enough to experiment with daring trends.
VINTAGE The vintage style reflects the styles and trends of an era they represent. Some compare it to retro style. But that is inaccurate retro means something patterned after an old style as for vintage is something that is old. Although vintage can refer to any past decade it usually pulls looks from 1920s to 1970s. When adhering to a vintage style consider pull the trends from a decade you connect with. Some examples are pinup clothing, flapper dresses, circle skirts, wide leg trousers and petticoats. All these you can add to your collection for a vintage look.
The feminine style is the “girly look” which uses traditionally feminine techniques. This style can be characterized by pastel colors, lace, flounces, bows, and florals. A stereotypically feminine wardrobe items may include dresses, pencil skirts, low heels, and poufy sleeves. If you like to get dressed up and wear sheer blouses with fitted jeans, this style is for you.
TOMBOY Opposite to the feminine style of dress, the tomboy style is more of a gender-neutral look. Instead of wearing dresses and skirts, you wear cool, comfortable pants that have a boyish look. Some types of clothing may be loose fitting trousers and jeans. Oversized blazers, collared shirts, baggy shirts and slouchy cardigans. If you enjoy more of the natural look, hanging with the boys this look is for you.
GIRL NEXT DOOR The girl next door style is characterized by casual clothing, this classic style is generally unassuming, simple and sweet. The girl next door has more of a casual comfortable look with a closet full of tennis shoes, simple t-shirts, and classic denim shorts. You want to see bold or attention-grabbing pieces in the girl next door wardrobe. If you like simple and casual, this is your style.
SPORTY The sporty style is becoming more popular these days. Sporty can take you from dressing at ease from active wear to outdoorsy, to sportswear. It is about comfort. Some sporty clothing may be tank tops, jerseys, sweatshirts, yoga pants and other gym ready clothing. If you’re active and want to be comfortable out and about, I say you found your style here.
